User Preferences

This screen allows you to set up certain advanced preferences.

Unlike most of the setup options in DSTAT, these settings are specific to the user and on the workstation.  Therefore, changing these setting only effects your situation and does not effect other users.

Daily Report Output Tool – DSTAT can display your Daily Journal and other daily reports using either Microsoft Excel or DSTAT’s internal spreadsheet software.  There may be differences between the printed presentations.

Daily Report Archive – The Daily Journals are not stored in the DSTAT program, they are created as a report.  If you wish to store a completed version of the completed spreadsheets, you need to enable this option.  The Archive File Format is used to create unique names for the saved reports.  Special keywords are used:

%Date% - includes the date in the file name (e.g. 05-28-09)

%PropertyCode% - includes the hotel code in the file name

%PropertyName% - includes the hotel name in the file name

For example, the string DSTAT_%PropertyName%_%Date% would create a file name of DSTAT_Holiday Inn_05-28-09.xls.

Accounting Adjustment Options - Even when DSTAT imports data from source systems (PMS, POS, etc.), the user may make adjustments to get the data to balance.  Typically the adjustment is subtracted from the imported value to get the Net value.  Using this preference, however, you can set the accounting standard so that the adjustment is added to the imported value.  Note, this setting does not effect the result.   You and switch this setting and any saved data will adjust be retrieved correctly.

In addition, there is an Adjustment Report available from the Reports menu.  You can check the box to make sure that the Adjustment Report is generated everyday so that you maintain a record of the adjustments made during the audit.

WHI Upload File Location - This option is only used under special circumstances for John Q. Hammons Hotels.

Email – The PDF or Excel option, is where you indicate what file format you wish to transmit to your corporate office.  If you use Microsoft Outlook or some other MAPI compliant email program, DSTAT will automatically generate the attachment and address the actual email correspondence.  If you use web-based email, or a non-MAPI compliant email program, then DSTAT will merely save the attachment to a directory of your choosing.  You will then have to attach the file to an email manually.

Email Options – The lower portion of the program allows you to define a default email, saving time on a daily basis.
